For many, massage therapy is considered to be a very important part of their health care and as such, it needs to be taken seriously. While a massage will leave you feeling truly relaxed, there are a few things that you can do to make sure that you are getting the maximum benefit from it.
Timing is a very important factor
Try to schedule your massage to when you can take the time afterwards to really soak in the benefits and enjoy that after-massage feeling. If you merely squeeze it into your busy schedule, you will not gain the maximum benefit from it.
Wear Comfortable Clothes
During your massage, make sure that you are wearing loose fitting clothes. Afterwards, the last thing that you want to do when you are getting off of the massage table is to try to squeeze into tight clothing or uncomfortable high heels, so bring comfortable clothes. Your muscles will be feeling great, your mind is clear, and your body will be adjusting to this wonderful relaxed feeling so if you are heading straight home, bring your pyjamas... but only if you are not traveling by bus!
Eat Something Light
Eating a light snack at least an hour before your massage is ok but it’s important not to eat a large meal. A deep pressure massage will usually feel amazing on your back, but not so much if you have a full stomach that's getting the pressure too. Save the larger meal for at least an hour after your massage, when you're likely to be hungrier anyway. Remember to drink plenty of water afterwards.
Communicate
To get the most from any massage, it's important for you to communicate honestly with me. If you are feeling tender in an area, have pain, or if anything has changed since our last session, then please let me know. My job is to help you find relief, the last thing that I want is for you to be uncomfortable or just not enjoying the treatment.
Massage therapy is health care, so help me to help you get the most out of your session at the Thai Massage Room and Spa.
